Terrace Tastings FB Pic 2016Summer is back in Detroit and that means it’s time for our Garden Terrace Wine Tastings! The series kicks off Thursday, June 9th with a celebration of Sparkling Wines, featuring samples of 8 wines paired with Chef Chris’ small plates! Tasting events will continue on most Thursdays through August 25th with a fun new theme each week (see the full schedule below).

Our chefs work with Sommelier Maria Papp’s wine selections to create a lavish – and filling! – small plates menu highlighting the wines – plus they’ll be outside grilling live, right on the Terrace! The wines will be available for retail purchase, too! It’s Detroit’s best party, and it lasts all summer long!

Each Tasting event begins at 6:00 pm and advance purchase tickets are required. Tickets are $45 per person, plus tax and gratuity. About Chef Matt Tulpa:
Salt & Saffron is the pop-up dinner creative outlet for Chef Matt Tulpa. He’s the in-house chef for Brighton’s certified organic Stone Coop Farm, where he presents true farm-to-table meals andteaches cooking classes. Salt & Saffron has been featured at (revolver) in Hamtramck and The Oakland in Ferndale. Launching soon is Matt’s next culinary venture – Vicecream Detroit, an ice cram truck full of innovative treats like you’ve never seen. After his first year of college, he started washing dishes at a small restaurant in Milford, his hometown. Since then, Matt has maintained an obsessive curiosity to absorb all-things-culinary and feeds his intellectual, creative, and entrepreneurial appetites as an independent private chef, consultant, chef at Stone Coop Farm, with Salt & Saffron & now Vicecream Detroit, too. We are thrilled to work with Matt and can’t wait to see what he brings to the table.

Chef Chris and his team will provide the ambiance, the drinks and the dessert while we give Chef Jared full access to our kitchen to do his thing! Jared started his career late at 23 years old. His mother and father both really didn’t cook much at home but his love of food was so strong that it took him from a career of playing poker straight into the kitchen. His inspiration for starting was colleagues of his putting out a cook book and the movie ratatouille. Knowing poker couldn’t be a life time career the former poker player pursued what has now become his main passion in life.

A graduate of The Art Institute of Michigan, Jared has worked in private clubs, private schools, publi restaurants, and also was a personal chef. While honing his craft he also competed at the International Shellfish Competition in Prince Edward Island Canada and was recently a contestant on Fox’s Hell’s Kithchen with Chef Gordon Ramsay. He placed in the final five.

Jared will be putting out an amazing all seafood dinner with a special dessert provided by Chris Franz of the RattleSnake.
