Ehlers Estate Wine Dinner

Tuesday | September 30, 2014 | 6:00pm – Our Fall Wine Dinner series kicks off with Napa Valley’s Ehlers Estate. Founded in the late 1800s by Bernard & Anne Ehlers, the winery is now owned by French entrepreneurs and philantEhlers 1886hropists Jean and Sylviane Leducq. The Leducqs saw the potential for Ehlers Estate, located in the St. Helena region in northern Napa Valley, to produce wines with the power, balance and structure of the finest Bordeaux bottlings they knew and loved. Ehlers Estate and winemaker Kevin Morrisey continues a proud tradition of organic and biodynamic farming with experienced vineyard and cellar teams that share a non-interventionist winemaking philosophy firmly rooted in the belief that terroir defines a wine, but passion, patience and hard work are needed to ensure that it is fully expressed in the bottle.
100% of the proceeds from the sale of Ehlers Estate wines go directly to the Leducq Foundation. Jean and Sylviane Leducq created this foundation in 1996 to support international cardiovascular research, and Ehlers Estate is an asset of the trust. To date, the Leducq Foundation has awarded more than $200 million in grants to 220 researchers in 19 countries.

The Rattlesnake Club is thrilled to welcome Ehlers Estate National Sales Director Armen Khachaturian to present these outstanding wines alongside Chef Chris Franz’s cuisine.

We’ve picked 10 of the best ones and are bringing them back for an End-of-Summer party on the RiverFront! You’ll get to select 8 of these wines to sample while enjoying the lush views and river breezes.  Our Garden Terrace is the perfect setting in Detroit for wine, music and friends! As always, Chef Chris will be at the grill firing up small plates to pair with the wines and we’ll have live music to keep the party going! Brys Estate Wine Dinner

Tuesday | April 8, 2014 | 6:30pm – April is Michigan Wine Month and we’re celebrating with one of Old Mission Peninsula’s very best – Brys Estate Vineyard & Winery! From their picturesque tasting room and vineyards to their award-winning wines and friendly staff, Brys Estate is a must-stop place on our northern Michigan wine trail list. Their dry white wines are crisp, clean and very food friendly while their reds, oh their reds, are structured, full-bodied and well, you’ll just have to come try them! Winemaker Coenraad Stassen hails from South Africa and has produced wines that have garnered over 350 medals in national and international competitions. We are thrilled to welcome Patrick Brys & Erick Outcalt from Brys Estate to The Rattlesnake Club for what promises to be an incredibly fun and even more delicious evening! Chef Chris and his team will present five courses of their always innovative, seasonal and locally-sourced cuisine to pair with the Old Mission-grown wines of Brys Estate.

We are thrilled to welcome Sean Barrett, Midwest Division Manager, and the all-estate-grown wines of Grgich Hills Estate in Napa Valley! Grgich Hills Estate gained international recognition after the now-famous Paris Wine Tasting in 1976. Miljenko “Mike” Grgich presented one of his wines to a blind-tasting panel of eminent French judges. They swirled, sniffed, and sipped an array of the fabled white Burgundies of France and a small sampling of upstart Chardonnays from the Napa Valley. When their scores were tallied, the French judges were shocked: they had chosen Mike’s 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay as the finest white wine in the world. Mon Dieu! The results stunned the international wine establishment and immediately earned Mike a reputation as one of the greatest winemakers in the world. Today, the Grgich family remains committed to making distinctive wines with quality, consistency and longevity.
